“Actually achieving and finishing making something makes me feel good again. Friendly, helpful atmosphere.”

What is available:
Traditional methods of upholstery are still used today, making it a skilled craft requiring judgement and dexterity as every piece of furniture needs to be approached differently. Our talented upholstery instructor Carol teaches skills in this area so that people can tackle their own upcycling projects with pleasing and worthwhile outcomes.
No matter your level of experience in this area, our instructor will help you to develop your skills using a variety of tools and traditional methods on either your own piece of furniture or an item which has been generously donated to the centre.
What are the benefits:
This type of activity can help people to build up the confidence to tackle a variety of upcycling projects around the home, so that the benefits of becoming more motivated can extend past the doors of the centre, nurturing a desire to follow trends on a budget. Working in a small and friendly group has known mental health benefits, as it can help to overcome some social anxieties and build friendships in a safe and supportive environment.
